CIEEM (the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management) have recently published their updated guide for UK homeowners on what to expect from a bat survey, when requested in relation to small-scale development (householder planning application) in the UK. The guide broadly covers why a survey is needed, who should carry out the survey(s), what bat surveys entail, and what happens once the survey has been completed.
